Castello di Gabbiano Chianti Classico Riserva 2010
Tuscany, ItalyA step up in quality, and suave style, from the Gabbiano Chianti Classico, I recommend spending a few extra dollars and picking up this Riserva. You may see multiple vintages of this wine on our market at present, though the 2010 is in its prime right now, showing a nice balance between wood and fruit. Ripe black raspberry, dried violets, leather and sweet black liquorice on the nose. A full palate draws the same fragrant ripe and dried black fruits across stretched, ripe and slightly gummy tannins. The toasty wood works well to prop up the concentrated fruit, while acidity keeps things lifted sufficiently to a spicy, bitter black plum finish.Tasted: 14 July 2015Tasted by: Treve RingPrices:BC | $27.00 | 750ml | private wine shops |
