CedarCreek Platinum Desert Ridge Merlot 2012
Okanagan Valley, British Columbia, CanadaCedarcreek’s Platinum range is only released in high quality years, so after a two year absence, it was nice to see the Platinum Merlot return. This single vineyard Desert Ridge Vineyard merlot is a first release, a stony-soiled parcel in Osoyoos that showed particularly well. Perfumed violets, black liquorice, ink and plum aromas repeat on the palate; an elegant, floral and pretty medium-bodied merlot, fresh and silky. Blue fruits and more florals on the finely spiced finish. Tannins are smooth through sticky on the finish, and wood (20 months in French oak) is well integrated with the fruit.
