Ridge Lytton Springs Zinfandel 2011
Sonoma County, California, United StatesThis wine, from Ridge's Lytton Springs vineyard in Sonoma's Dry Creek Valley, is predominantly old vine heritage zinfandel (82 percent), along with 16 percent petite sirah and 2 percent carignane, aged for 14 months in American oak (25 percent new). Dusty black cherry and blackcurrant teem with deep anise, olive and black floral notes. The acidity is brisk and structured tannins are firm and slightly dusty. The 2011 vintage was a cool, allowing the finessed nature of these old vines to shine. Lovely bones here, clad in expressive, fragrantly herbed black fruit. Drinking very well now, but you can easily hold another decade.Tasted: 17 March 2015Tasted by: Treve RingPrices:BC | $55.00 | 750ml | specialty listing |
