Skaha Bench, Okanagan Valley, British Columbia, CanadaPentâge does the hard work for us in this, their flagship red. 2010 is the current release, the winery preferring to age and merge the cabernet sauvignon/cabernet franc/merlot/petit verdot/syrah/gamay blend for us, and release it when they feel it is ready. Deep dusky plum and berry fruit is overlaid with warm baking spice aromas. The full, spicy palate has benefitted from the time in bottle; tannins are elongated and smooth, the black spicy fruit married seamlessly, leather, bitter cherry pit, dark cocoa and cedar notes provide interest and the very spicy finish lingers.
