Columbia Valley, Washington, United StatesThe Middleton family has been working the land in Washington since 1898, so you know they know their dirt. The blend changes each vintage. In 2011 it is syrah dominant, with contributions from cinsault, mourvèdre, grenache, counoise and viognier. Grenache abounds in this spicy red; wild strawberry, fragrant violets and peppery spice are supplely cushioned around the structured syrah, bright and elegant up through the stony finish.
