Clos du Soleil Signature 2011
British Columbia, CanadaAn amazing effort in 2011 and frankly a terrific bottle of red wine that is all British Columbia. It is the balance that really sets this apart from the field. Fresh spicy, ripe black olive notes mark the nose with bits of black fruit and dark chocolate. The attack is full and round but with smooth fine-grained tannin. The textures are deep and rich with smoky, vanilla, black cherry, peppery, pipe tobacco flavours with a twist of savoury dried herbs. Impressive now but will improve in bottle through 2020.
