Clos du Soleil Signature 2018
British Columbia, CanadaSignature is the flagship red at Clos du Soleil, blending 42% merlot with 32/19/5/2 cabernet sauvignon, cabernet franc, malbec, and petit verdot. Each Similakmeen-based block is harvested separately, destemmed and native fermented in concrete before moving to French oak for 16 months. There is a smoky note upfront but hardly intolerable before the black cherry floral sagebrush that mark this wine kicked in. However, the tannins, so silky smooth, really impress, giving it a sense of sophistication some of its neighbours have yet to achieve.
