Rocca delle Macie Roccato 2009

Tuscany, ItalyOpen inviting cedar, tobacco nose with black cherry, coffee, vanilla, and savoury, peppery, black olive, mint and meaty, sausage aromas. Dry, round, full, suave palate with ripe tannins with rich coffee, milk chocolate, savoury, peppery, black olive, cassis, balsamic, meaty, cigar flavours. Good intensity with some youthful tannins on the finish to round out over the next few years. Well done. Age this seven to ten years and serve with rich dishes. Roccato is a 50/50 mix of sangiovese and cabernet sauvignon all picked by hand and vinified separately aged in French oak barriques some 9 and 13 months. Once blended it goes back into 35 hectolitre barrels from another bottle.Tasted: 10 February 2016Tasted by: Anthony Gismondi and Stuart TobePrices:
