Le Serre Nuove Dell' Ornellaia 2010

Bolgheri, Tuscany, ItalyOrnellaia 'bambino' better known as Le Serre Nuovo was first released in 1997. The 2010 is a 45/41/9/5 blend of merlot/cabernet sauvignon/cabernet franc/petit verdot that as usual is every bit up to its big brother Ornellaia. There is always more merlot in Le Serre than Ornellaia to provide more drinkability earlier. The nose is an enticing mix of earthy, spicy, red fruits. The palate is a savoury mix of the same red fruits with black olives and a savoury meaty finish. A tighter leaner version in what was a cool Bolgheri vintage with a little less power. Still elegant and stylish and will be fine with food through 2020.Tasted: 19 May 2013Tasted by: Anthony Gismondi and Stuart TobePrices:
