Domaine de Beaurenard Châteauneuf-du-Pape Rouge 2010

Châteauneuf-du-Pape, Southern Rhone, Rhone Valley, FranceThe 2010 is refreshingly clean and fruity with a grape mix of about 70 percent grenache the remainder a 20 per cent mix of syrah and mourvèdre with 10 per cent cinsault and the rest of the 13 approved varieties. The wine spends 12-15 months in wood before heading to bottle. This is an exceptional release from Beaurenard a beautifully crafted red with a floral, fruity notes on the nose and generous proportions of spicy fruit and weight on the palate. Slippery soft and delicious the grapes in Beaurenard are certified organic and biodynamic by authorities. Stupid value here. Terrific with lamb.Tasted: 20 January 2013Tasted by: Anthony Gismondi and Stuart TobePrices:
