M. Chapoutier Ermitage Le Méal Rouge 2008

Hermitage, Northern Rhone, Rhone Valley, FranceHuge peppery, plum jam, orange compote nose with cedar, curry spice, prune, barnyard, liquorice and vanilla aromas. Dry, fresh, elegant but tight with some grainy, youthful tannins. Curry spice, garrigue, pepper, black cherry, plum, liquorice, cedar, tobacco, meaty and smoky herb flavours. Good concentration and length with more fruit than Le Pavillon. This will also benefit from 7-10 years or longer in bottle and will live for decades. Made from 50 year old vines with alcohol barely reaching 13.5 percent. Tasted: 28 December 2011Tasted by: Anthony Gismondi and Stuart TobePrices:
