Louis Bernard Gigondas 2009

Gigondas, Southern Rhone, Rhone Valley, FranceThe Bernard Gigondas is located on the right bank of the Rhone at the foot of the Dentelles. The soil is red clay with small pebble-like stones. The blend is a mix of grenache, syrah, mourvèdre and cinsault. Great colour and a wonderful floral, mineral nose with fresh, black fruit nuances. The attack is persistent with more black plum and mineral flavoured fruit with smoky, meaty savoury notes in the back end. Impressive wine for the price and certainly worthy of some cellar ageing. You can serve it now with big game dishes.Tasted: 20 May 2011Tasted by: Anthony Gismondi and Stuart TobePrices:
