Nicolás Catena Zapata 2005

Mendoza, ArgentinaNicolás Catena Zapata is a selection of the best cabernet sauvignon and malbec from across the Catena Zapata vineyards. Look for peppery, cassis jam, blackberry, black olive, savoury, dried herbs, smoke, clove, caraway aromas. Rich, ripe, round, supple palate with light grainy tannins. Good acidity with cassis, blackberry, tobacco, cedar, coffee, black olive, garrigue, violet, chocolate flavours. Warm but well balanced with good fruit on the finish. Has finesse and structure to age 3-7 years. Catena's super-Argentine red takes its name from Nicolas Catena's mother and also lends its moniker to the company's Mendoza winery. The '06 blend is 70/30 cabernet sauvignon/malbec. Tasted: 01 November 2009Tasted by: Anthony Gismondi and Stuart TobePrices:
