Quinta do Crasto Douro Vinho Tinto Reserva Old Vines 2005
Douro Superior, Douro Valley, Northern Portugal, PortugalThe complexity comes from mixed plantings of 25 to 30 different grape varieties on average closing in on 80 years of age. The fruit is handpicked fermented and aged in mostly French oak. The colour is black, the aromas a gamey mix of nutmeg, cloves and black plum fruit. The entry is dry the styling elegant with plenty of fine grained tannin. The finish is super delicious with vanilla and cherry notes poking through what is still a youthful red. Should improve over the next decade.Tasted: 06 December 2008Tasted by: Anthony Gismondi and Stuart TobePrices:BC | $40.00 | 750ml | specialty listing |
