Batasiolo Barbera d'Alba Sovrana 2006

Piedmont, ItalySpicy, plum, black cherry, peppery, mineral, meaty nose with bits of almond, coffee and tobacco leaf. Dry, tart, full, somewhat tannic palate. Big black cherry, almond, tobacco leaf, saddle leather, herbal, savoury, caraway, celery root flavours. There is fruit but this is tarter than past editions, a flashback to a traditional style that needs food.Tasted: 02 December 2008Tasted by: Anthony Gismondi and Stuart TobePrices:
