Batasiolo Barbera d'Alba Sovrana 2001

Piedmont, ItalyBatasiolo's single vineyard Barbera comes from Sovrana a special plot of vines selected for its intense fruit character and concentrated flavours. We liked the previous 2000 edition, but the 01 may be better. The colour is dark and the nose awash in cherry fruit and tobacco. A touch less acidity, something Barbera is famous for, makes this oh so drinkable. Perfect dinner wine for meat or ripe cheeses.Tasted: 31 October 2003Tasted by: Anthony Gismondi and Stuart TobePrices:
