Torres Salmos Priorat 2005

Priorato, Catalunya (Catalonia Cataluña), SpainSalmos is new label form Miguel Torres this time coming from the hallowed slopes of Priorat. I've tasted Salmos, meaning Psalms in Spanish, several times now and it continues to improve in bottle. It is an impressive mix of garnacha and cariñena grapes, blended with syrah and cabernet sauvignon. The nose is a rich mix of mineral, eucalyptus, licorice root, black cherry and smoky aromas with bright floral, savoury fruit of Priorat. Rich, round, warm and ripe with supple tannins, good acidity and a touch of fatness from the French oak (20 per cent new) ageing. Look for spicy, clove, black cherry, mint, smoky, black olive and milk chocolate flavours. Still a baby that will live well past 2015 and improve every year it sits in bottle.
