Layer Cake Shiraz 2006

Barossa Valley, South Australia, AustraliaPeppery, spicy, bay, black cherry, menthol, licorice, vanilla, rosemary, meaty, tobacco nose. Rich, ripe, round, moderately dry palate with fresh acidity and light tight tannins. Very warm with mocha, black berry jam, plum, tobacco, licorice root, meaty, mineral flavours with a bit of reduced characters on the very warm finish. There's some finesse despite the near 15% alcohol and it's not overtly fat but the acidity is somewhat high. Needs a few years to soften and or decant for some time and try with duck or lamb.Tasted: 05 June 2008Tasted by: Anthony Gismondi and Stuart TobePrices:
