Ruffino Il Ducale 2004
Tuscany, ItalyThe Ducale name is well known to Chianti drinker but this Il Ducale (80 per cent sangiovese 20 per cent cabernet) is a modern twist on an old name. Look for a meaty, smoky, Brett-y, warm tobacco leaf nose with flecks of barnyard, sweaty leather saddle, chocolate and cassis. Rich, round, supple, forward palate but warm with some acidity poking through. Chocolate, stewed prune, Brett-y, meaty, coffee, peppery, cassis, cigar, saddle leather flavours. Intense Tuscan red at not so intense a price.Tasted: 27 December 2007Tasted by: Anthony Gismondi and Stuart TobePrices:BC | $18.99 | 750ml | specialty listing |
