Ornellaia 2004
Bolgheri, Tuscany, ItalyPeppery, spicy, vanilla, cassis, tobacco leaf, coffee, black cherry, coriander, cardamom aromas with some black olive, Christmas cake and meaty notes. Rich, round, dry and supple with fine grained tannins. Good acidity if a bit warm at 14.5% alcohol. Spicy, peppery, licorice, coffee, vanilla, cardamom, cassis jam, black cherry, orange peel, olive and cranberry flavours. Good finesse, silky warm texture and concentration on the lengthy finish but there are some cool leafy aspects underneath. This needs 5-7 years to gain complexity and shed the herbal notes. The blend is 60/25/12/3/ cabenret sauvignon/merlot/cabernet franc/petit verdot.Tasted: 14 November 2007Tasted by: Anthony Gismondi and Stuart TobePrices:BC | $150.00 | 750ml | specialty listing |
