Ornellaia 2003
Bolgheri, Tuscany, ItalyLovely rich spicy, peppery, leather nose laced with tobacco, barnyard, gamey, cassis, black cherry aromas with hints of black olives, wax and menthol. The entry is full and rich, the fruit ripe and supple but with fine acidity and balance for such a warm vintage. Smoky, cassis, ripe olive, menthol, resin, tobacco, coffee, waxy, vanilla, mineral flavours. This is the second time we have tasted this wine and six months later it is progressing nicely in the bottle. Still youthful but with fine finesse and concentration and smooth tannins. Will improve with 3-5 years more bottle aging but you could serve today with a major meat course.Tasted: 09 May 2007Tasted by: Anthony Gismondi and Stuart TobePrices:BC | $131.99 | 750ml | specialty listing |
