Frescobaldi Montesodi Castello di Nipozzano Chianti Rufina Riserva 2000

Tuscany, ItalyThe Montesodi vineyard at Nipozzano lends its name to the property's best sangiovese and only in great years. Smoky, ash resin, peppery, bay leaf, black berry, black cherry, vanilla, barnyard, leather, waxy, cedar nose. Round, dry, full and a bit warm and tannic. Licorice, plum, black cherry, coffee, vanilla, orange peel, menthol, peppery, gamey flavours. Good fruit, a bit alcoholic, has mid-term aging ability. Fairly forward with good fruit intensity, this can be drunk now but should improve over the next 2-4 years.Tasted: 14 November 2007Tasted by: Anthony Gismondi and Stuart TobePrices:
