Frescobaldi Montesodi Castello di Nipozzano Chianti Rufina Riserva 2004

Tuscany, ItalyHuge peppery, spicy, black cherry, black plum, vanilla, dried fig, coffee, orange peel, tobacco, incense, gamey, riparian aromas. Rich, round, full and concentrated with substantial ripe, grainy tannins and very good acidity. Intense ash, tobacco, licorice, root, peppery, orange peel, black cherry, coffee, vanilla, gamey flavours. Long, full, very young, needs 5-7 years but very young. Great fruit on the nose and great potential. As much as we like the 2001, this will probably be better year and the best produced to date. That said stay tuned for 2006 and 2007 that may also rival or exceed this based on barrel tastings. The '04 Montesodi was aged for 18 months in new French oak barrels after a 30 day total maceration.Tasted: 14 November 2007Tasted by: Stuart TobePrices:
