Frescobaldi Montesodi Castello di Nipozzano Chianti Rufina Riserva 1974
Tuscany, ItalyA re-release in individual boxes direct from the estate, this was the first vintage of Montesodi produced. The intent is to illustrate how sangiovese and Chianti Rufina can express themselves with age. Cherry brick colour. Soy, tobacco, tea, gamey, licorice, cedar, ash and orange peel aromas with a hint of black cherry and leather. Dry, round, slightly hard palate but well balanced with some residual tannins. Good soy, smoky leather, cigar, licorice, black tea, black cherry, olive and dried coriander flavours. Good acidity and finish not dried out but near the end of the plateau. Has aged well.Tasted: 14 November 2007Tasted by: Stuart TobePrices:IT | $100.00 | 750ml | Retail (Euros) |
