Ruffino Riserva Ducale Oro Chianti Classico Riserva 2003
Tuscany, ItalyDucale Oro is almost always an elegant red wine but it sometimes leaves you looking for a bit more heft and weight. Not in 2003. The nose is ripe with cherry, licorice and coriander notes. On the palate the entry is supple, the fruit dense and blanced with rich fine grained tannins. Smoke and pepper fleck the rich fragrant red fruit that is the hallmark of this wine. Fine intensity and sufficient acidity should point to many years of drinking pleasure to come. New clones and plantings at Ruffino's many estates are pushing the Ducale Oro, an 85/15 blend of sangiovese with merlot and colorino, to even greater heights.Tasted: 10 May 2007Tasted by: Anthony Gismondi and Stuart TobePrices:BC | $47.00 | 750ml | specialty listing |
