Michele Chiarlo Barolo Cannubi 2001
Piedmont, ItalySmoky, spicy, tobacco, balsamic, tar, chocolate, anise and black cherry aromas. Dry, ripe, round, fat but with fine grained tannins. Ripe and concentrated with peppery, coriander, tobacco, strawberry, tar, anise, licorice and coffee flavours. Fine structure, intensity and finesse. Needs 2-7 years to come around but showing well. Generally a bit more austere vineyard. Made from a 1.4 hectare portion bought in 1985. Very steep slopes, now replanted in terraces with planting of grasses in rows with 1 meter high walls and no stones to maintain terroir and limit erosion. The wienry says it drinks best after about 7-8 years.Tasted: 13 March 2007Tasted by: Anthony Gismondi and Stuart TobePrices:BC | $91.15 | 750ml | speculative listing - Winspeer |
