Purple Angel by Montes 2004

Valle del Colchagua, Valle del Rapel, Region del Valle Central, ChileThe latest Purple Angel 2004, edition number two maybe even better than the first year. The mix of 92 per cent carmenère and 8 per cent petit verdot blends cool and warm fruit flavours to perfection. Carmenère is naturally low in acidity and given its need to ripen late you run the risk of making flabby wines but Aurelio Montes uses the cooler Marchigue fruit to improve the structure and acidity of the ripe mountain fruit of Apalta. We love the cherry vanilla aromas and savoury carmenère notes. Silky smooth and dense in texture this is carmenère for the sceptics. Love the spicy, black fruit. Smoky chocolate finish.Tasted: 05 November 2006Tasted by: Anthony GismondiPrices:
