Penfolds Magill Estate Shiraz 2002
Adelaide Plains, South Australia, AustraliaLeather barnyard and cigars jump from the glass of the 02 Magill - a 5.2-hectare estate surrounded by the town of Adelaide. The fruit at McGill tends to ripen earlier (thanks in part to the warmer nighttime temperatures of its urban vineyard) that lends the wine an inherent ripe fruit character with softer, slippery tannins. Made in open fermented and basket pressed it's 'babied' all the way down the line into its 80/20 US/French oak barrels of which 66 per cent are new. A pretty shiraz with smoky, nutty fruity flavours if abit too much oak. Individual and delicious New World shiraz.Tasted: 24 October 2005Tasted by: Anthony Gismondi and Stuart TobePrices:BC | $74.99 | 750ml | specialty |
