Shingle Peak Pinot Noir 2004

Marlborough, South Island, New ZealandThe majority of this pinot noir blend has been processed from Burgundian clones 667 and 777. A small crop aided the ripening process and the result is another fine effort form Shingle Peak. Only 20 per cent new oak let's the fruit shine. Look for a smoky strawberry/cherry spicy nose with a rootsy, barnyard undercurrent. The entry is silky, there is plenty of acidity and the tannins are slippery. Fun berry-laden pinot that is well worth drinking. The winery suggests it is "a superb match with grilled lamb chops, mint chutney and garlic mash."Tasted: 29 April 2005Tasted by: Anthony Gismondi and Stuart TobePrices:
