Marcarini Barolo Brunate 2000

La Morra, Cuneo, Piedmont, ItalyBarolo finds one of its highest expressions in Marcarini's Brunate cru that takes its name from the single vineyard at La Morra - the first in the area to specify vineyard name on the actual labels, as early as 1958. Very spicy, tar, tobacco, black olive, walnut oil, forest strawberry nose with some compost. Elegant, round and more delicate than La Serra but dry and somewhat tannic. Sour cherry, coffee, tobacco, earthy flavours with some tar and violet on the finish. Really dry, slightly oaky finish but traditional. Needs years again to soften.Tasted: 04 March 2004Tasted by: Anthony Gismondi and Stuart TobePrices:
