Marcarini Barolo Brunate 1997

La Morra, Cuneo, Piedmont, ItalyLa Serra is the other side of Marcarini Barolo: a historical vineyard covering 3.1 hectares (7.6 acres), less forward, albeit contiguous to, Brunate, on the same hillside, with identical south/southwestern exposure. The grapes take a little longer to ripen on the vines; the later harvest, together with a cooler, windier microclimate, is conducive to softer, rounder Barolo, with greater finesse. Look for an inviting strawberry cherry nose with tar and rose petals streaks. Warm full bodied spicy mid-palate with round elements but the finish is dry and more of what you expect from Barolo. Pruny cherry weedy tar in the finish. Best with food at this stage will improve in bottle for years.Tasted: 26 January 2003Tasted by: Anthony GismondiPrices:
