Henschke Cyril Henschke Cabernet Sauvignon 1999

Eden Valley, South Australia, AustraliaThe Cyril Henschke cab is in fact a 70/15/15 blend of cabernet sauvignon, merlot and cabernet franc in '99 grown at the Henschke Eden Valley estate vineyard. The wine is named after Cyril Henschke (1924-1979) as a tribute to one pioneer in the production of varietal table wines. Look for peppery, spicy, leather, cassis jam nose streaked with licorice mineral aromas and blackberry/orange peel notes. Rich, round and long with supple tannins and a fine coffee, cassis, spicy, herbal palate with peppery plum jam flavours and mint. Showing a bit of acidity and tannins on the finish which should round out over the next 4-7 years. Well made in a difficult harvest.Tasted: 28 October 2003Tasted by: Anthony Gismondi and Stuart TobePrices:
