Penfolds Thomas Hyland Shiraz 2000

South Australia, AustraliaThe bookend to the Thomas Hyland chardonnay is the shiraz made from select parcels of fruit McLaren Vale, Coonawarra and the Barossa Valley in South Australia. Forty per cent of the blend was matured for 15 months, and 60 per cent for 10 to 12 months in used French and American hogsheads. Look for bright heady mulberry and blueberry fruits are interlaced with the obligatory spicy oak, licorice, and eucalyptus. Fruitcake and chocolate and savoury plums all make this a winner.Tasted: 01 March 2003Tasted by: Anthony Gismondi and Stuart TobePrices:
