Top 10 : BC Wines to Buy Direct

By: Geoffrey Moss MW
Buying wine online has never been more rewarding

When it comes to BC wine, there’s no shortage of reasons to order directly from the producer.

Most wineries now have online stores that make it easy and convenient to get wine delivered to your door. That said, in a few cases I gave up trying. Here are the ins and outs for ordering direct:

  • Most wineries offer complimentary shipping if you purchase a minimum number of bottles, even if you’re not a wine club member. Plus, you can typically mix and match wines. In some cases, that may just mean a single bottle. But on that point…
  • Even if you’re not paying for shipping, the winery still is, and shipping wine is expensive. So, think about adding an extra bottle or two to your order. Odds are your future self will thank you.
  • Wine is rarely broken or damaged during shipment. If it is, wineries will quickly send you a replacement bottle or provide a refund. They likely have a refund policy on their website if you’re unsure.
  • What about shipping wine during summer and winter months? A number of BC wineries use ATS, a courier that specializes in shipping temperature sensitive medical supplies. So, shipping wine is a breeze in comparison. If the courier is not listed on a winery’s website, don’t be shy to reach out.
  • Consider shipping your order to a business address. It’s going to save you the hassle of missing a delivery. It may also save the winery money, because they’re charged for redelivery attempts by some couriers.
  • This time of year, it’s not uncommon for BC wineries to be sold out of some, or even all, of their wines. Join their email list so you’re among the first to hear about new releases. There’s no cost or obligation.

Here are 10 BC wines that you can order online today. We have included a direct link to all the wines for your convenience. We have no connection to any sales or commissions with any wineries.
