Top 10 : BC Whites

By: Treve Ring & Anthony Gismondi
Support Local - April is BC Wine Month

We have always kept a close watch on the BC Wine industry at GOW.

With the current global shutdown, and April marking the annual BC Wine Month, we thought there was no better time to shine the light on our local producers, farmers, vintners, and eno-heroes. Buying local has always been important, but now it is even more so, especially for small producers. Numerous BC wineries, retailers, and restaurants are creatively working to make it easy to get BC wine to you safely. We've seen the swell of free shipping, virtual tastings, local touchless delivery, and curbside pickups happening across the province. WineBC has put together this regional list of wineries and how to buy direct. It is continually updated, so check back often. Don't forget to visit your local independent wine shop for BC wines; many of them are offering delivery or shipping.

BC is leading the country in flattening the curve, which leads us to believe we may soon be all in a position to visit outside our communities, and with our many international friends. After all, we are all in this together. For now, we strive to help build a healthy, stable, and prosperous industry at home.

Our April Top Tens will all be BC-based. Today we start recently tasted white wine highlights.

Every week Treve Ring and Anthony Gismondi collaborate on our Top Ten list, released on Thursday morning, often with a timely theme. If you count carefully the list will more than likely exceed ten names but only because we believe if any wine is tied by a score that makes our list it should be included. We know many of you are wine savvy and can do your own sleuthing to locate our weekly picks but for those who asked: BCLS means it is sold in government retail stores; when we say private wine shops we mean it could be in any private wine shop or liquor retail store (LRS); winery direct means check with the winery online. If it’s not sold in BC we usually try and give you a suggested retail price. Prices change hourly in BC – the price we post is what we are given at publication.
