West Kelowna, Okanagan Valley, British Columbia, CanadaQuails' Gate makes two Gew each year: this reserve series, and their straight 'entry level'. Orchard Block Gew is a single vineyard planted in 1989, was whole cluster pressed, and partially fermented and aged in oak. Much more plump than its sister gew, yet still relatively restrained for the grape, thanks to its Boucherie Mountain volcanic soils, and northern Okanagan latitude. Apricot, tangelo, white peach, fennel is bracketed with lime pith, tightening this perfectly for accessible drinking with a variety of foodstuffs, or solo.Tasted: 22 August 2019Tasted by: Prices:
West Kelowna, Okanagan Valley, British Columbia, CanadaOrchard Block is a soft and creamy gewürztraminer that leans a bit toward Alsace. The entry is spicy and fresh with orange and lime-laden fruit that floats across the palate. It’s the delicacy that makes this so attractive, and the almost watery texture that keeps you coming back to the glass for more. Not typically Gewürztraminer, but charming in its own right. The source is old 1989 plantings.Tasted: 27 June 2019Tasted by: Prices:
