LaStella Maestoso Solo Merlot 2022
Okanagan Valley, British Columbia, CanadaMaestoso is La Stella's flagship wine and is treated as such, with prestige treatment from vineyard to sale. Coming off 2 vineyards of 25-30ish year old vines in the southern Okanagan, and clay and gravelled soils, this spent 20 months in French oak (9% new) before being bottled unfined. Fragrant cassis, wild blackberry, crushed cherry, tobacco, and leather course through this powerful southern Okanagan red, with a lifting centre line of acidity to balance any weight. Tannins are very well integrated into the fruit at this point (after a welcome decant and breath), leaving a black espresso trail to the black pepper and baking spices that sit on the finish.
