LaStella Maestoso Solo Merlot 2019
Okanagan Valley, British Columbia, CanadaMaestoso is La Stella's flagship wine and is treated as such, with prestige treatment from vineyard to sale. 80% comes from high terrace Lumeno Vineyard at La Stella, tempered with 20% from the Golden Mile Bench. This fermented in 1200L open-top fermenters before 20 months in Slavonian and French barrique and puncheons (60% new). It was bottled unfined, and coarsely filtered. Fleshy cherries, ripe plum, baked bitter cherry, and dark chocolate are framed with tight, fine tannins carrying some ragged edges still to resolve in the bottle or decanter.
