Château Pesquié Ascensio 2016

Ventoux, Southern Rhone, Rhone Valley, FranceAscensio is grown at one of the estate's highest and coolest vineyard sites. Grenache sets the stage with some generosity and fruit. Still, the cuvée is built around high altitude syrah that takes syrah further north into the cradle in and around Tain-l'Hermitage. After a decade, this wine is just beginning to blossom and shed some dense, fine grained tannins. Complex and mature, the savoury black fruit, olive tapenade, cracked pepper, graphite, and smoked meat remain linear with some help from the overall freshness and length. A good example of what Acensio can do with some time in the bottle. It's definitely a flagship Ventoux red.Tasted: 30 May 2026Tasted by: Anthony GismondiPrices:
