Château Pesquié Ascensio 2020
Ventoux, Southern Rhone, Rhone Valley, FranceA fresh look at the favourable 2020 vintage brings this single vineyard wine back into the rotation. Ascensio celebrates the centuries-old tradition of ascending Mont Ventoux, dating back to the 14th century. Produced only in exceptional vintages and in tiny quantities of fewer than 3,000 bottles, it comes from 50 to 80 year old grenache vines and spends 48 to 60 months in the Pesquié cellars. The blend is powerful, ripe grenache with the addition of 5% syrah. The fruit remains dense and dark, the texture rich, and the finish long. It has evolved only slightly since my last tasting so that I would give it another four to five years in the cellar. If you must open it now, serve it with bœuf bourguignon, venison, duck confit or, more simply, grilled Italian sausages.Tasted: 01 July 2026Tasted by: Prices:| BC | $110.00 | 750ml | select private retailers |
