Cowichan Valley, Vancouver Island, British Columbia, CanadaBlue Grouse, guided by winemaker Stacy Hornemann and supported by the Jackson Family’s resources, is on a winning streak. This pinot noir embodies everything desirable in a young New World region like the Cowichan Valley, combining estate grown fruit with some neighboring grapes fermented in amphorae and stainless steel, then matured for 18 months in a mix of new and neutral French barrels and puncheons. Its slender profile, as Treve Ring aptly notes, contributes to its remarkable balance and inviting aroma. It’s hard to see this wine lingering long in any glass. It boasts an exceptionally juicy character, with red fruit accented by sea salt, minerals, and cherry blossoms. Among the most refined pinots we've tasted on Vancouver Island, it also comes in at under 12 percent alcohol.Tasted: 24 April 2026Tasted by: Prices:

Cowichan Valley, Vancouver Island, British Columbia, CanadaBlue Grouse continues its steadfast march into the future, now backed and buoyed by Jackson Family Wines. This Cowichan Valley pinot noir comes off estate and neighbouring fruit, and was fermented in amphorae and stainless steel before resting 18 months in a mix of new and neutral French barrels and puncheons. Arriving at a slight 11.5% alcohol, this slender pinot streams crushed raspberry, cherry blossoms along a saline laced palate, with fine, sticky / sapid tannins pinning in the sides to a stony finish. Haven't seen this level of finesse from Blue Grouse before, and it's a welcome change. Enjoy now with anything salmon or wild mushroom.Tasted: 16 April 2026Tasted by: Prices:
