Poplar Grove CSM 2022

Naramata Bench, Okanagan Valley, British Columbia, CanadaEach of the three grapes, 47% cabernet sauvignon, 30% merlot, and 23% syrah, is processed individually before it is blended. In all, it is a 60/40 split of fruit grown in Osoyoos and Penticton. Cool early spring temperatures led to a bud burst that was 10–14 days later than average, resulting in a slow start to the growing season. The cool weather and above average rainfall persisted through the entire spring, but eventually the heat returned. Before mid-August, hail reduced the Naramata fruit by 15%. The rest of the summer and early fall turned out to be perfect weather wise. This is a ripe red with plenty of structure, with cabernet sauvignon and syrah leading the way. Black cherries, cassis, and cedar mark the nose, while the palate is a full blown savoury, spicy, desert red with firm tannins and sagebrush in the finish. Grilled beef, lamb, or braised short ribs are the best match at the moment. If you like big, rich reds, this is it.Tasted: 18 March 2026Tasted by: Anthony GismondiPrices:
