Zenato Lugana San Benedetto 2023
Veneto, ItalyTrebbiano is having a comeback of sorts in Italy, and it's far from the old tart, thin, green hued grape that could peel the enamel off your teeth. The Zenato Trebbiano di Lugana is the winery's flagship white, made from fruit from the oldest vines in the Podere Massoni vineyard, near the southern shores of Lake Garda. It has a pleasing, barely gold colour and a fresh character from stainless steel fermentation and ageing, during which it rests on its lees for five months. There is a richness here, with honey and nuts, but there is also bright acidity and freshness. Expect a pear and tangerine underside that balances the richness at 13% alcohol. Sergio Zenato started the highly respected Veneto winery in 1960, and today his children, Alberto and Nadia, manage the estate and winemaking.Tasted: 04 February 2026Tasted by: Anthony GismondiPrices:| BC | $19.95 | 750ml | LCBO |
