Gérard Bertrand Clos d'Ora 2018

Minervois la Liviniere, Minervois, Languedoc, Sud de France, FranceClos d'Ora ranks among the finest Languedoc reds, skillfully balancing power and elegance in a single bottle. The nose features black fruit with garrigue notes that flow across the palate, complemented by dense, fine grained tannins and mineral nuances that persist through the finish. At Clos d'Ora, the 9hectare vineyard, surrounded by dry stone walls and located in the commune of La Livinière en Minervois, sits at an altitude of 220 metres above a fault line where limestone, sandstone, and marl soils converge. The organically certified Syrah, Grenache, Mourvèdre, and Carignan bunches are hand harvested and fermented in concrete vats. Each plot and grape variety is kept separate. The Syrah is destemmed; Grenache and Mourvèdre are destemmed and lightly crushed before fermentation under strict temperature control; while the Carignan is fermented in whole bunches and vinified at a high enough temperature to promote aromatic extraction. Maceration is kept to a gentle minimum to limit tannin extraction, and the wine is aged for one year in French oak barrels.Tasted: 06 December 2025Tasted by: Anthony GismondiPrices:
