Champagne Gosset Grand Millésime Brut 2016
Champagne, FranceFounded in Aÿ in 1584 by Pierre Gosset, Champagne Gosset is the oldest wine house in Champagne. For 17 generations, Gosset was family-owned, but in 1993 it was sold to the Cointreau family from Charente, owners of Frappin Cognac. The 2016, meant as a photograph of the vintage, blends 61% chardonnay and 39% pinot noir (the near reverse of 2015), with most of the pinot coming off north facing hills. As is house style, this was fermented in stainless, with no MLF. This bottle was disgorged in spring 2024. Showing development on the nose (thanks to 7 years sur lattes), this opens with wet chalk, green apple, and crystalline lemon, moving into a lean layer of toasty lees on the long palate, finishing with ample salinity. Quite elegant, and drinking smartly now.Tasted: 03 December 2025Tasted by: Treve RingPrices:| ON | $123.00 | 750ml | LCBO |
