Bel Colle Langhe Nebbiolo 2024
Piedmont, ItalyDOC Langhe Nebbiolo is the introductory stepping stone to the bigger, richer, more intense versions of nebbiolo, aka Barolo. That said, there is Langhe Nebbiolo, and then there is Langhe Nebbiolo. Belle Colle is the exception, taking its label closer to the kingly Barolo than most of its peers. Expect the nose to be fragrant, with violet and rose. The attack is an enticing mix of red fruits, intense and with some impressive elegance, in a nod to the nobility of the nebbiolo grape. Look for plums and raspberries amid perfectly managed, almost dusty tannins. There is no apparent dryness here, just a delicious, drinking red. We know it's worthy of serious study, but why bother? It's too much fun to drink.
