CheckMate Artisanal Winery Capture Chardonnay Border Vista Vineyard 2022

Osoyoos, Okanagan Valley, British Columbia, CanadaOver the years, Capture has been one of the best Checkmate labels. Always opening with a flinty, seawater, mineral note, this wine comes from a section of 8 rows within their warmest vineyard. Border Vista Vineyard is located on the Osoyoos East Bench, at 339 to 354 metres, planted to Dijon 76 and 809, which are wild fermented and aged for 14 months in French oak (47% new). The lean, sandy soils yield naturally low crops and produce highly concentrated fruit. The palate combines peaches, honey, and a creamy, mineral texture. Border Vista Vineyard takes you as far south as possible in the Okanagan on the Osoyoos East Bench, just north of the US border. There is plenty of power here, but its sparse soil helps to restrain its overall structure, especially when combined with organic growing, contributing to a modest 13.5%.Tasted: 30 June 2025Tasted by: Anthony GismondiPrices:
