1 Mill Road Pinot Noir Home Block 2023
Naramata Bench, Okanagan Valley, British Columbia, CanadaRetasted in September, noting that the fine core of fruit that framed this pinot early on has slid into the mix seamellesly to support the graphite, black tea, and spice. Sleek, velvety, and long this wine has impeccable balance from front to back. Quiet, complex, and inviting, it is showing well right now with a 30 minute decant. It was fermented using 30% whole cluster and only 20 days on skins to contain the intensity and robustness of the '23 harvest. This wine showcases a remarkable blend of skilled winemaking and experience. Bright and fresh upfront, but that fades into a more moody pinot in the finish. Winemaker Ben Bryant excels at picking at the right time, often earlier than others, ensuring he never worries about getting enough acidity. He says in the Okanagan, you achieve plenty of natural extracts if you take enough care at the winery, thus the balance we see here. It was aged in a mix of barrels and larger puncheons to enhance the balance.Tasted: 01 September 2025Tasted by: Prices:BC | $65.00 | 750ml | winery online $390 6-packs only |
