1 Mill Road Pinot Noir Home Block 2023
Naramata Bench, Okanagan Valley, British Columbia, CanadaThere is a fine core of fruit with depth that frames this pinot, and early on it dominates on the entry before the graphite, black tea, and spice intervene to balance the wine right through the finish. Quiet, complex, and inviting with savoury notes underneath and fine texture throughout, tt was fermented using 30% whole cluster and only 20 days on skins to contain the intensity and robustness of the '23 harvest. There is an outstanding balance of skilled winemaking and experience all wrapped up in this wine. Bright and fresh upfront, but that fades into a more moody pinot in the finish. Winemaker Ben Bryant excels at picking at the right time, often earlier than others, ensuring he never worries about getting enough acidity. He says in the Okanagan you achieve plenty of natural extracts if you take enough care at the winery, thus the balance we see here. It was aged in a mix of barrels and larger puncheons to enhance the balance.Tasted: 30 June 2025Tasted by: Anthony GismondiPrices:BC | $65.00 | 750ml | winery online $390 6-packs only |
