Treana Cabernet Sauvignon 2020
Paso Robles, San Luis Obispo County, Central Coast, California, United StatesCabernet Sauvignon has played a significant role in the Hope Family's viticultural history. The Treana Cab is an ode to some of the people who influenced winemaker Austin Hope: his father, Chuck Hope; his uncle Paul; and Napa Valley winemaker Chuck Wagner. All are known to be big red wine fans. The 2020 lacks the finesse of 2018, presenting as a big, ripe red wine packed full of baking spice, vanilla, and toasted oak. It's a mouth filling red that takes me back to the 1990s when people smoked a cigar while drinking this style of wine. I'm sure this wine has fans, but the current decline in red wine popularity is mainly led by this wine style, which is still commercially viable in the USA for some reason or another. Ironically, the current Hope Family Cab, big but chiselled, has more of the style that could help red wine regain its composure.Tasted: 07 December 2024Tasted by: Anthony GismondiPrices:BC | $45.99 | 750ml | estimated retail |
